Hello friends!

Recently I've taught a few classes at the local Makerspace, all of which incorporate the basic crochet techniques, but allow for the completion of a project so that the students get to leave with a finished project and, hopefully, a sense of accomplishment.

The end result of one such class is a stuffed heart, in honor of valentine's day. I have a friend who lives far away from me who expressed interest in learning how to make the stuffed heart, so I've written up the pattern in order to help her do so. If you know how to crochet, feel free to take a stab at it. If you don't, well, let me teach you!

Please feel free to sell any finished products from my pattern. I'd appreciate it if you credit me when you do so, but if you don't, that's OK too. BUT. Please don't take my pattern and claim it as your own or try to sell it or whatever. You're on the honor system here, but I honestly believe in karma so... steal at your own risk :)

You will need some yarn, in whatever weight and color you prefer, and a hook size to match and some poly-fil. I often drop down a hook size when I make plushies so that the stuffing doesn't show through. I used worsted weight yarn and a 4mm hook.

CROCHET HEART PLUSH

Make 2 hearts following the method below.

Chain 3.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and next chain. (2 sc) Chain 1, turn

Row 2: Sc in each st (2 sc) Chain 1, turn

Row 3: 2 sc in each st (4 sc) Chain 1, turn

Row 4: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in last st ( 6 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 5: 1 sc in each st (6 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 6: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 4 st, 2 sc in last st (8 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 7: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 6 st, 2 sc in last st (10 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 8: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 8 st, 2 sc in last st (12 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 9: 1 sc in each st (12 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 10: 1 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 5 st (6 sc) leave remaining 6 sc unworked. Chain 1, turn

Row 11: 1 sc in each st (6 sc)

Row 12: sc2tog, sc in next 2, sc2tog (4 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 13: sc in each st (4 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 14: sc2tog twice (2 sc) chain 1, turn

Row 15: 1 sc in each st (2 sc) fasten off.

Join yarn in 1st unworked stitch of row 10. Repeat rows 10 - 15, but do not fasten off. Chain 1, single crochet evenly around entire edge of heart. Fasten off.

When making second heart, leave a 12 inch tail when fastening off. Hold both hearts together with the wrong sides facing each other. Whip stitch around edges, stuffing heart to desired level of plushiness when mostly sewn up. Finishing sewing together and fasten off. Weave in all ends. Ta-da! Heart plush completed.

If you have any questions about the pattern or don't understand any of it, please let me know and I'll help you to the best of my ability. If you make the heart, please share a picture with me!!! :)
